Climb Your Heart Out

028 Koko Head 029 Koko Head

Hike: Koko Head

Location: Honolulu, HI

After-Burn: This is the only time I’ve ever believed I experienced Hell and Heaven in the same day. This climb is Hell. Stairs. That’s it. Lots of stairs. Lots and looooots of stairs. When you begin, it’s hard to look up and say, “Alright, let’s go.” So it’s good to have people who are motivating by your side, because it is in fact, quite daunting. You start and think, “Oh, no problem, I can do this.” But by the 200th stair, you’re huffing and puffing and wanting to turn around. I had to take a few breaks, one of which I was sure I was going to throw up. But I had to get up the rest of the 848 large, inconsistent steps. Bring water and a towel, you will use them. The hike/workout isn’t even a mile long, but it is a lot of work. It’s possibly even harder on the way down because of all the pressure on your knees. But guess what the hike is? It is pretty much the Stairway to Heaven. After all that hard work, pain, and temptation to quit, you reach the summit and have the most spectacular view of Oahu…maybe even the world. You see the bright blue water 360 degrees around you and all the pain goes away. Great place to eat lunch and soak up the sun (don’t forget sunscreen!). It is hands down the most rewarding hike you could ever go on. Go-Go to Koko!

Devour Your Heart Out

Restaurant: Chipotle

Location: Seattle

After-Taste: I want to begin this ‘journey’ with my all-time favorite food to eat. You will come to learn that I am obsessed with Chipotle. It is my favorite place to go for lunch and dinner (….heck, I’d even eat it for breakfast) because it is quick, fresh, and consistently delicious! I am in fact so crazy about Chipotle that my Mom made me a Chipotle burrito costume and I fully intend on wearing it every single Halloween. Stay tuned in October for a post on the world’s greatest costume (Thanks, Mommy!). When I first started going, I tried a few different versions of the burrito, and wasn’t completely sold. This is necessary to do before you find your perfect match. After 3 trips, I found it, and I’m eating happily ever after. Here is my version of the perfect burrito – what is yours?

Mo’s Perfect Burrito:

(A little bit of) White Rice
No beans
Mild Salsa
Sour Cream
*Always order a salad dressing. Drizzle some dressing over each bite and it is HEAVENLY.
